Recently I installed Windows 8 and I fell in love with it - instantly. Why ? Because, Microsoft has come up with an awesome product. Let me tell you.
1. New Logo
This tops my list. Its much better than the previous one.
2. User Interface
Windows 8 came with totally different UI - the Tiling UI. Its just awesome. I was literally trying to move the tiles by touching the screen of my PC. The layout is great ! The fonts used are also fantastic.
3. Boot Up
The boot time is drastically reduced. I could power on my PC under 10 secs. And less than 5 from the sleep mode. Also, installation was faster than Win7.
4. App Store
You can download free and paid apps from the Store. Its just like Apple App store or Google Play. It has apps on broad range of categories.
5. In built Apps
I loved the inbuilt app especially the Mail, News, Sports, Weather and many more. They provide latest information and have a unique feel.
6. Grub remains !
I have my Ubuntu in one partition and installing Windows 8 didn't delete the Grub. I can still select my choice of OS at startup ! Hail Win8 !
[Edit: I installed Win8 from inside Windows7 using PowerISO. So that's why my grub is still intact as I didn't format my partition.]
7. More search options
Search in Apps, Files, Settings and everything under the roof.
8. More folder options
More options are given when you want to mess with a folder - options for sharing, viewing, etc have been increased.
9. Better integration
They have given an option to add devices and share files/apps. So, I think that Surface tablet and Lumia Win 8 phones and PCs will seamlessly communicate and will have integrated sharing system.
10. Faster, Better and Neater :D
I bought a licensed version of Win 8 and have been using it since a month. I can tell you one thing for sure - you will face some issues wrt to navigation or settings initially but the UI will blow you over and its awe and feel will make the transition to use this Windows version a pleasant one ! And you will be up and running in no time ! Trust me :) In my next post, I will put up some tips and tricks for using Windows 8.
