I think Windows 8 is made specifically for tablets (UI based on touch) but fits well on the PCs also. I find it more appealing to use with touchscreens rather than a mouse.
So here are some tips and tricks to help you to get familiarize with Windows 8 -
- Move your mouse in the top left corner and the last opened app is shown.
- Move your mouse to top left corner and and move it a bit down and voila - a visual list of all the used/open applications are shown.
- Move your mouse to bottom left corner and it pops up the main Start tiled screen.
- Move your mouse to right and the menu opens up having options of sharing, devices and settings.
- To navigate to Control Panel, on Start Screen, click on Desktop tile. Now, move the mouse on the right top corner and click on Settings. Here you will find Control Panel option.
- All shortcuts works same as that of Win7.
- Press Win key on the keyboard to access the Start tiled screen. Win+D for to show Desktop
- To open settings of any application, press Win+I. A bar containing various setting options will pop up.
- To close any application, right click on the app tile in the left bar and click on close. The left bar appears when you move your cursor to top left of screen and move it a bit down.
- The Shut Down, Sleep or Restart options are available under Power Icon in the menu which is opened when you press Win+I.
I will keep on adding more to this list in future. Have fun :)
